[RESEARCH & EDUCATION CHAIR] Training a new generation of managers capable of navigating between creative excellence and technological mastery, preserving artistic authenticity while harnessing the potential of AI.
Established in 2025, the Chair in Cultural Industries, Arts & Creative Technologies develops a unique pedagogical approach that combines practice-based research with direct collaboration with artists-in-residence, thereby preparing for the future of creation and its technological disruptions.
We train engaged, passionate, creative, and expert managers through a 360° curriculum structured around three core courses: Economics of Cultural Industries; Arts & Culture Tech Lab; and Cultural Policies and Artists. This theoretical foundation is complemented by elective courses in management, marketing, creation, AI, and technology, 10 seminars with industry professionals, a hands-on 'Craft' innovation project in collaboration with our partners or artists, and an integration weekend.
The Chair is part of an ecosystem comprising 9 founding partners, associated schools, universities, and institutions, as well as over 400 alumni from the former Media & Digital Chair founded in 2005. It also benefits from the support of the ESSEC Metalab for AI, Data and Society—an institute that prepares future executives and leaders to navigate the mass adoption of data technologies by leveraging four pillars: developing innovative educational programs, conducting scientific research, partnering with industrial and public sectors, and driving public discourse.
